The Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) provides monthly on-bill credits for lower-income customers to reduce their electricity bills.
Support for lower-income electricity consumers will increase by 50% and more consumers will be eligible for assistance under changes to the OESP, which take effect May 1, 2017. The OESP increase translates to an additional $180 to $300 per year for households in monthly, on-bill OESP credits, depending on your household size and annual income.
(If you have already been approved or have recently filed an application, you do not need to reapply. The increased credits will happen automatically.)
Do you qualify?
If you’re a customer of an electricity utility and have a total household income that falls below a certain limit, you may qualify for a reduction on your electricity bill through the OESP.
